Pizza was invented in Naples, Italy. There is no record of what year it was invented, but I suggest it was invented in the early 16th century. Anyway, one of the BEST pizza places in Puerto Rico is a place called "La Puttanesca",in Santurce. Every Wednesday, my family has "Pizza Night", and we ALWAYS order Papa John's Pizza. But on Wednesday, we had pizza from "La Puttanesca". It was AWESOME. We ordered a half-bacon, half-cheese pizza. It's a New York Style pizzeria, with thin-crust pizza.

Did you know that in 1889, during a visit to Naples, Queen Margherita of Italy was served a pizza resembling the colors of the Italian flag, red (tomato), white (mozzarella) and green (basil). This kind of pizza has been named after the Queen as Pizza Margherita... (straight from wikipedia, but I always thought Pizza was invented in the US... I stand corrected!)
